Creating Target Personas for a Successful Advertising Campaign

We are now going to take you step by step through the process of generating good quality leads on social media.

Before we go any further, we need to agree on what social media is for, from our business point of view. Social media platforms for team leaders, distributors or any other business owners are tools to help generate traffic to websites, to build a contact list and to communicate with customers and also with your FM World team members.

So what is the first step? The first thing to do when you are creating a campaign is to imagine your ideal target person.

Are they male or female? How old are they? How many kids have they got? Think about what they do for a living, their hobbies, the more details the better. We have found it works best if you give them a name.

Next, think about what problem does your target person have? Do they need extra income? More time freedom?

How are you going solve their problem? And why should they believe that YOU can solve it?

So just to clarify – To be able to create that person in your mind you need to ask yourself a lot of questions.

Let’s look at a couple of examples of how to build up a picture of an ideal prospect:

Example 1:
Are they male or female? Female
What age group is she? 25-35
How many kids does she have? Two aged 3 and 6
What does she do for a living? She is a mother staying at home looking after kids
What interests does she have? Social media and going to the gym
Does she want extra income? Yes
Is the money for a car? a holiday? She wants to provide a good life for her kids
What is her name? Monika

Example 2:
Are they male or female? Male
What age group is he? 18-24
Does he have any kids? No
What does he do for a living? Student
What hobbies does he have? Football
Is he looking for extra income? Yes, but he also wants to learn new skills
What is his name? Ben

Now it is your turn, write down the answers to these questions about YOUR own ideal target person.

There are no right or wrong answers, as this is someone you are creating in your own mind. It should be the type of person you would like to have in your team, who you would be happy to work with and that you can relate to.

Remember, don’t forget to give them a name, as this is a very effective way to keep that person in your mind when you are advertising to them.
