Instagram is a social media phone app that lets users upload and share photos with the Instagram community and also share them on other social media sites. To increase the effectiveness of your Instragram profile means getting more followers, but many people simply don’t know how to do this.
Today, we would love to share with you some of the things we have learnt from promoting our FM Group business on Instagram, so that you can learn how to increase your own presence on Instragram too.
1. What To Post
We have noticed that images of happy people and posts that make people smile get the most likes, but it is worth taking a look at Instagram pages that are aimed at the same target market as you and which of their posts are getting the most likes, and then create images of a similar style.
2. Keep It Square
Square images are essential, you can share other shapes and resize when uploading, but they don’t always look right on all devices, so stick to square images.
That leads nicely to our next time, use canva.com or similar free sites where you can create images that are exactly the right size for social media. Canva is very easy to use, you can upload your own photos and use them in the images you create on there if you wish.
4. Where To Put Your Website
Include your website in your profile description because it is clickable there, it is not clickable if you include it as text on a post. Also include it on many of the images you post, use a simple image editor like canva or photoshop to add your website in small but readable letters on the image. If someone shares your image, or copies it, they share your website too.
In the text of your post include # related to your business and also ones that are popular and are currently trending if they are relevant to your post. When you start to write a # the Instagram app will show you suggested words and how popular the hashtag of those words are at the moment.
If you think of a hashtag after you have posted, you can always add the hashtag as a comment on your post, it still counts.
6. Other Social Media
A quick way to get followers for your Instagram profile is to tell your fans and followers on other social media like Facebook and Twitter about it. And why not do it the other way around too? A simple image with Follow Me On Twitter and your Twitter @ username posted onto Instagram could get you more Twitter followers too.
7. Who To Follow
Follow people who you want to follow you back, those who might want to join your business or purchase products from you. The more people you follow the better, but also remember to unfollow those who don’t follow you back after about two weeks as Instagram has limits on how many people you can follow and you want to free up space for following more people who will connect with you.
8. Be Interactive
Like and comment on followers posts. Thank people for following you with a quick (non-sales type) friendly direct message.
Think when your followers and potential followers are likely to be online and post at these times.
Most important of all is be consistent with your Instagram postings, this is the only way to get results, doing it for just a short time is no good, it takes time to build up a following.
