What makes you happy? Our answers to that question will be different to yours, and everyone else’s too. We are all individuals with various ways of looking at life. However, there are certain things you can do to bring more balance into your life, improve your health and give you that sense of inner peace. These simple changes to your habits could make a big difference in your happiness. Read on to discover our top 10 tips for a healthy and happy life!

Drink Plenty of Water

You have probably heard this before, but water is essential for your body to be able to function properly. Water carries the nutrients into your body that you get from food. It also is material to build your cells. You should aim to drink around 2 litres of water every day, to keep your body feeling good and in optimal condition.

Enjoy Each Meal

Whilst it is important to make sure you are eating the right things, you must also enjoy your food. Celebrate your food, it is a vital part of your life. This can be easily achieved by varying what you eat, focusing on natural foods from all the different food groups and having your meals at regular times, spread evenly during your day.

Not only does regular physical activity help keep your body looking good, but it has also been proven scientifically that sports and exercise can bring joy. It doesn’t matter if you are on a cross-trainer at home, working out at the gym or simply going for a brisk walk, the extra endorphins (known as the hormone of happiness) created by physical activity make you feel great.

Seeing your friends and family is something that gives most people a feeling of happiness in their lives. Chatting, laughing and enjoying life together, that is the beauty of life itself. Taking time each day to tell those close to you how much you love them is something that will make them feel good, but this small action will also give you a really nice feeling too.

Plan Your Day

This is something that we include in our FM World team business training as well. By planning ahead you will find you will get more done and be less stressed. The minimum you should do is take 5 minutes in the evening to write down what you are going to do the following day. Ideally, you should have a schedule of your planned activities 7 days ahead.

Without this, your day will seem crazy, you will constantly be in a rush, forget what you have to do and end up getting nothing done. Lack of planning will not just affect you, but those around you too.

When you do plan your day and week, people notice the difference and will be proud of how organised you are.

Find Time for Yourself

We often spend all our time trying to please other people and forget about ourselves. You need to also make sure that you give yourself some time too. How you do this is up to you, there are many ways to achieve it. For someone, it might be reading a book, going shopping, spending time with your pet or having a bit of pampering at the beauty salon. Do what you enjoy during these moments, you must have fun to balance your life.
